Week Five

Week 5 is when backpack spider was born. Well, maybe not born but at least brought into the spotlight. There I was just a boy and his backpack, when all of a sudden a spider with mammoth-like proportions ejected itself from within my backpack at terminal velocity. With the help of a McDonald's cup and Stephanie Garcia, the backpack spider was relocated to a place outside of my backpack, very far away from me. In a meeting that followed shortly thereafter, Molly made the excellent observation that backpack spider would make a great band name. It was with this insight, that Backpack Spider Track 1 was created, and it exists at the link hidden behind the spider picture.

In addition to all that, we also did our free-form mentorship meeting this week. It went great but only about 6 students showed up. They were all enthusiastic and very willing to talk to us which was great, I had just hoped for a better turn out. There's always next time, though. We will continue to plan events like movie nights and trivia in hopes that we can attract a bigger crowd.
